The Story

Internet, Meet Luca

Luca is a 6-year-old boy battling B-Cell Leukemia with two dreams: to beat cancer and to become the next Michael Jordan. Earlier this week, I had the privilege of surprising Luca with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity—to attend his first NBA game courtside and meet his hero, Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.

Sitting courtside in his No. 5 Edwards jersey, Luca held a sign that read, “To Do: 1. Beat Cancer; 2. Be the Next MJ.” After the game, Edwards met Luca and was deeply moved by his courage, positivity, and loving spirit. When Luca handed him an orange wristband inscribed with “Love Like Luca” and his favorite quote, “It Is A Sunny Day,” Edwards made a heartfelt promise:

“I’ll wear this for the rest of my career on my left arm band just for you.”

Since that incredible interaction, the Timberwolves have gone on a 3-0 winning streak, with Edwards playing at an all-star level. His performances have been nothing short of extraordinary, but even more inspiring is the movement this moment has sparked—a call to action for us all to stand together in the fight against childhood cancer.

Now, we’re inviting you to be part of this journey. By purchasing an orange wristband like the one gifted to Anthony Edwards, you can help support Luca’s medical bills and his family’s expenses while raising awareness for childhood cancer. Let’s show Luca—and the world—the power of love, hope, and community.

It is a sunny day 🧡
